Þegar hugmyndin að þessari sýningu kom upp sá ég strax að þetta væri þess virði að prófa; Lulu Yee er þekktust fyrir skúlptúra svo það er spennandi að vera með vatnslita myndir sem er mjög ólíkur miðill og mundi þetta getað gert spennandi heild og gaman að kynnast betur mynd heimi og hugsanlega persónu annars listamanns, en við höfum ekki kynnst neitt áður þrátt fyrir að hún hafi sýnt á íslandi í gegnum árin. Ég ákvað að byrja og gera smá tilraunir með dulmögn vorsins með viðeigandi blómum og einhversskonar hús eða hóla, ég er þó ekki að gera neinar tilraunir til að skilja þá krafta sem stjórna höndinni til að skapa þá dýpt og fjölbreyttu heima sem aðeins listinn geta gefið okkur.
When the idea of this exhibition came up, I shaw that it was worth a try; Lulu Yee is best known for sculptures so it is a good idea to show watercolor which is very different medium and it would interesting to know more of the world of the art Lulu Yee and also the character, but we did not know each other before the exhibition. I decided to start a little experiment with the wonder of the spring, flowers along with some kind of houses or hills, but I am not trying to understand the forces that control the hand in creating process of art, the depth and diversity of the world, or understand feelings that’s only the art can give us.

Daði Guðbjörnssoner þekktur fyrir litríkar myndir sínar; skraut, flúr og fantasíukennt landslag. Hann fer sínar eigin leiðir og hefur mótað sér sérstöðu í íslenskri myndlist með léttleika og tærum litum, þá sérstaklega í vatnslitum.
Í þessum nýju verkum skjóta furðuverur sem eiga sér aðeins tilvist í huga listamannsins. Flæði í litavali og skraut í myndunum vekja athygli og eru einskonar einkenni Daða. Heiti verka hans eru ætíð merkingarbær og dýpka jafnan túlkun áhorfandans og er þessi sýning engin undantekning.„Myndirnar skýra sig ekki alltaf sjálfar og því set ég nöfn á þær, sem dugir í raun samt ekki alltaf til að útskýra þær,“segir Daði.
Daði stundaði nám við Myndlistarskóla Reykjavíkur á árunum 1969-79, Myndlistar- og handíðaskóla Íslands 1976-1980 og Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten í Amsterdam 1983-84.
Sýningin er opin til 14 október.

Daði Guðbjörnssonis known for his colourful paintings; vibrancy, playfulness and fantastical landscapes. His style is very unique and he’s earned a special place within the world of Icelandic art through light-heartedness and bright colours, especially in his watercolour paintings.
In these new works, you can see fantastic beasts, which only exist in the mind of the artist. Pay attention to the unique flow in his choice of colour and decoration in the pictures; these are the hallmarks of Daði’s work. The names of his paintings always have a well thought out meaning behind them and often serve to deepen the viewer’s interpretation, and this exhibition is no exception. “The pictures aren’t always self-explanatory and that’s why I put names on them, which really isn’t always enough to explain them,” Daði remarks.
Daði studied at the Reykjavík Arts University in the years 1969-79, the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts 1976-1980 and the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam 1983-84.
Lives and work as an artist in Reykjavik.
Alter ego DADILISTO
I was born in Reykjavik: May 12, 1954. Grow up Kópavogur close to Reykavik, which was mostly built by refugees, who were not allocated land in Reykjavík for political reasons. Good time for children to play in half builded houses, or go to a small shelter and listen to the communist.
When I was 12 y.o. I decided to become a painter and, as my father resisted, it would not turn back.
After I have learnd Carpentry to make my father happy, I went to The school of Arts and Crafts, and ended up learning experimental art and new art media, I could take all the risks, I had lernd very practical profession to be able to make a living. I did not get started with creating so called “New media”, but began do painting with the good old oil colours. I was a part of movement in the eighties called “New Painting”. I then studied in Amsterdam for a year, mostly of graphic printing, but that time was a great gift for me, since I started working as a professional and have done so mostly since 1983.
I’ve been very lucky! I was one of the first to do, so called “New Panting” in Iceland, this promotion drew attention and I started selling my art works and could make a living in a decent life, all the time until the lucky famous “collapse” of the banks in Ieland, but at that time people mostly have to use their money in pay-as-you-go debt created by our economic system in Iceland, probably one of the worst in the world.
After that crash, I have been doing some extra work: teaching, city walk with tourist and so on, I have alsow been having pepole visiting my studio with some home-made food. But also received a grants.gov support for big exhibition in Art museum: Kjarvalsadir in 2011. This period has been nice, always good to get new challenges especially if one manages to take advantage of them. I recently had an exhibition of Mokka Kaffi in Reykjavik hat was successful.
I have been doing Sahajayoga for many years and have volunteered to teach and introduce.
